After graduating with a degree in Engineering from Indiana State University, Mr. Hooser began his career in the heart of technology, Silicon Valley. This segment of his career spanned 13 years where he served as an electronics executive, with notable companies like Advanced Micro Devices and Motorola. Leaving corporate America in 1996, he co-founded a web services provider, called ILS, Inc. After a successful acquisition of that company in 2000, he shifted his sights on enhancing practical access to a variety of real-world service needs, by leveraging the world-wide-web. Mr. Hooser began funding projects, making his first investment in digital learning in 2006. From there, his online American secondary school, Franklin Virtual Schools (grades 6-12 programs) was established in 2009, then expanded globally in 2013. Prior to its merger and subsequent acquisition in 2019, FVS delivered its platform-based education programs to students of all ages, through a global partner network, reaching as many as 50 countries. In 2012, he established EARN, Educational Assistance Resources Network, Inc., a non-profit organization (www.ed-assist.org). EARN’s mission focused on filling this functional access and education resource gap, and empowering “life-challenged” students to reach their learning goals. Finally, while growing both his not-for-profit and for-profit education enterprises as a single parent, David raised two incredible children, and recently re-married and is setting his path forward hand-in-hand with his beautiful and highly accomplished wife, Trang Hooser.
